Peter & Lyn's Project Overview
Our lovely clients Peter and Lyn recently purchased a waterfront unit at Woody Point that hadn’t been renovated since the early 2000s. The home was tired and dated, ready for a new lease on life.
We were engaged to redesign and elevate the key spaces throughout the home – including the kitchen, living room, ensuite, walk-in robe, main bathroom, powder room, laundry, and study. Our scope included full spatial planning, custom cabinetry design, and the selection of all fittings, fixtures, and finishes.
The brief was to create a distinctly Australian feel, inspired by the tones and textures of the bush. This vision comes to life through a calming, nature-inspired material palette: subtle Eucalyptus green cabinetry, warm Tasmanian Oak detailing, Blackbutt hybrid flooring, and variegated green-grey tiles. The result is a layered, tranquil home that feels grounded, warm, and timeless – perfectly suited to its coastal surrounds.
Kitchen & Living
This light-filled kitchen was designed for everyday living and entertaining. A dedicated tea and coffee nook with a sleek roller door complements the generous island bench, featuring 40mm stone benchtops and a matching stone splashback for a seamless, refined look. Clever storage solutions were a key focus – from hidden inner drawers and a pull-out bin to tailored storage for cooking essentials. The adjoining living space features a custom-designed wall unit with curved open shelving, integrated wine storage, and space to display treasured pieces, all tied together with warm hybrid flooring that flows throughout.
Bathrooms & Ensuite
Each bathroom was thoughtfully redesigned to improve layout and usability while maintaining a cohesive, calming aesthetic. The main bathroom, primarily used by guests, now features a new bath and shower with a niche, a deeper vanity with a semi-recessed basin, and relocated towel rails to optimise space. In the ensuite, a deeper vanity, recessed mirror cabinet, and larger shower with a sleek ledge enhance both style and storage. The adjoining walk-in robe was reconfigured for better functionality, with the addition of doors, drawers, shelving, and a full-length mirror that opens up the space.
Laundry, Powder Room & Study
The compact laundry was completely reworked to maximise efficiency, with ample bench space, overhead cabinetry, and a concealed hot water system hidden behind a custom bi-fold door. A hanging rail adds everyday practicality while maintaining the room’s calm aesthetic. The former third bedroom was transformed into a tailored home office and library, with bespoke cabinetry to accommodate everything from sewing equipment to an electric keyboard and printer. The powder room, narrow but elegant, now features a perfectly proportioned custom vanity with a semi-inset basin, a stylish and welcoming space for guests.
Hallway Storage
The existing hallway cupboards were replaced with custom cabinetry in Polytec Pallido Smooth, complete with drawers for easy access and tall storage for household essentials. The refreshed design lightens the corridor and sets the tone for the home’s soft, layered palette.
Testimonial
“We have had a wonderful, productive and enjoyable renovation journey, with Verona from Avid Interior Design walking along with us.
Where we were: Our goal was to completely renovate a three-bedroom apartment that is to be our main residence. Where do we start? Mm, not sure! Then we met Verona from Avid Interior Design and everything started happening.
Where we are now: Wow! We now have beautiful, modern and functional spaces to live in and call home; a completely renovated apartment with no room untouched by Verona’s design ideas and guidance.
Verona is a lovely person with terrific design ideas and puts her heart into the work she does. We found Verona’s design process extensive but not overwhelming, and her guidance supportive and reassuring. Verona’s passion for what she does is obvious and her commitment to excellent outcomes that meet the needs of the client is always so very evident. Regular and detailed communication by phone and/or email was greatly appreciated and we always felt confident that everything was being thoroughly completed or organised in a timely way. The detailed cabinetry drawings, 3D renders and selections’ schedule made for a seamless engagement with our other contractors. The businesses and services that Verona utilises, and has either accompanied us to, or put us in contact with, have been outstanding in what they provided and the manner in which they worked with us. Again, this is Verona’s commitment to quality, service and client satisfaction.
Thank you, Verona, for taking this reno journey with us. We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome and so very appreciative of your involvement.”
